On Russia providing humanitarian assistance to Lesotho
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho H.E. Mr.Ilya Rogachev took part in the ceremony of handing over of Russian humanitarian aid to the Kingdom of Lesotho, which has traditionally maintained friendly relations with Russia.
A cargo of 2,5 tones including 4 traumatological & 2 surgical modules was delivered to Maseru. The modules are designed to carry out 400 surgical operations with 10-day postsurgical recovery.
The aid was provided in view of a Russia-funded project on enhancement of World Health Organization’s capabilities in the area of emergency medical readiness and response.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime-minister of Lesotho M.Moleleki, Minister of health of Lesotho N.Kabi, Minister of foreign affairs and international relations of Lesotho L.Makgothi. Hon. M.Moleleki and other speakers extended gratitude to the Russian Federation and personally President of Russia Vladimir Putin for providing the aid.
The handing over of humanitarian aid received wide coverage in local media.
